Ok, sorry to everyone about the scheduling issues on our camping trip. I forgot about the stake meetings for ward and stake leadership in conjunction with Stake Conference.
We are still going camping; it will be on October 19-20. We will be camping at Payson Lakes to do a little fishing. The boys have requested fishing again, so we are at it one more time with feeling. For information on the Fishing Merit Badges and State Regulations see our August Post.
We are planning a camping and fishing trip for September 14-15, 2012. We are still working out all the details, but it looks like we will be camping in the Salina / Richfield area. One of the main activities will be fishing. Most of the boys have told us that they don't know how to catch or gut a fish, and we would like to help them remedy this.
All the boys over 14 will need a regular license to fish with us. A 7 day license is $16 or a year license is $26. If the boys opt out of the license there will still be ample opportunity to watch, and we will make sure they have a chance to clean and prepare a fish for eating, as long as we are able to catch something.
If you have access to fishing rods that would be great. We do have a few spares as well, so no need to run out and buy one if you don't have one.
The Sunset 2nd Ward Varsity Team High Adventure was held in Moab, Utah. It was a GREAT trip!
The Teacher's Quorum met at Brother Smith's house on Monday morning at 6:30 am. We loaded in to the Suburban and headed south. The trip was largely uneventful. A few small detours in Springville and we were off to the races.
We made it to Entrada High Adventure Base before noon. We checked in, set up our camp, and ate lunch before heading out to adventure in Arches National Park.
Our campsite, named La Sal, in Entrada High Adventure Base.
After lunch we decided to go to Arches and hike. Monday was the coolest day weather-wise, so this turned out to be the best day for a trip to the park.
After deliberating for a few minutes we opted to hike to Delicate Arch, the most popular arch in the state.

Upon arrival at Delicate Arch there was a tour bus full of Japanese tourists waiting to get their pictures taken. We found something to entertain ourselves while the crowds dissipated.
We opted to do some climbing on the buttes around the famous arch.

Our destination was Gemini Bridges. We got to walk out on the bridge and look around.
Quite the drop. Don't look down!
In order to look over the edge we were required to lay on our stomachs and crawl over.

After lunch on Tuesday we decided to explore the valley around Entrada.
